Wild Forests and Fauna (WildFF) addresses landscape-scale conservation issues in globally important forests. We are a diverse network of science and business professionals who, together with local community leaders, implement place-based solutions that connect stakeholders, build capacity in local communities, and propel ideas into action.<\/p>\n
We believe what makes WildFF different is our investment in communities living on the frontlines of threatened forests. There are many local leaders and organizations eager to improve their communities in a sustainable way, yet lack the resources and connections to make a significant change. We take the time to understand the culture and local traditions and how they may translate to capacity building and economic opportunity. Communities that find a balance between sustainable land use and economic need are what will keep forests\u2013their homes\u2013intact for future generations.<\/p>\n

D<\/span>r. Jason Scullion is a forest conservationist and Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at McDaniel College (Maryland, USA). Originally from the northwestern USA, Jason has had a lifelong interest in the conservation, exploration, and study of forests worldwide. He has a PhD in Environmental and Forest Sciences and master\u2019s degrees in Public Administration and Forest Resources from the University of Washington. Christian is a true people person, having worked in Human Resources within the finance industry for almost 40 years. During that time, he built and managed many successful teams. He is an all-terrain adventurer as an avid mountain biker, wake surfer, and skier. Dr. Letty Brown is a forest scientist who specializes in restoration, conservation planning, and carbon accounting. She has worked in the forests of US, Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Kenya. Letty holds a Ph.D. in Forest Science from UC Berkeley and did her post-doctoral work as a Fulbright Scholar in Brazil, where she conducted remote-sensing and ground-based research to map conservation targets for a portion of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. He is passionate about community conservation, endangered species, and sustainable natural resources management. Wild Forests and Fauna (WildFF) addresses landscape-scale conservation issues in globally important forests. We are a diverse network of science and business professionals who, together with local community leaders, implement place-based solutions that connect stakeholders, build capacity in local communities, and propel ideas into action.<\/p>\n
We believe what makes WildFF different is our investment in communities living on the frontlines of threatened forests. There are many local leaders and organizations eager to improve their communities in a sustainable way, yet lack the resources and connections to make a significant change. We take the time to understand the culture and local traditions and how they may translate to capacity building and economic opportunity. Communities that find a balance between sustainable land use and economic need are what will keep forests\u2013their homes\u2013intact for future generations.<\/p>\n

D<\/span>r. Jason Scullion is a forest conservationist and Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at McDaniel College (Maryland, USA). Originally from the northwestern USA, Jason has had a lifelong interest in the conservation, exploration, and study of forests worldwide. He has a PhD in Environmental and Forest Sciences and master\u2019s degrees in Public Administration and Forest Resources from the University of Washington. Christian is a true people person, having worked in Human Resources within the finance industry for almost 40 years. During that time, he built and managed many successful teams. His work allowed him to live and absorb the cultures of many global cities, including Berlin, New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Tokyo, and Singapore. He is an all-terrain adventurer as an avid mountain biker, wake surfer, and skier. He wants to turn his attention to conservation and hopes to use his experience to expand the capacity of the WildFF organization. A deep believer in decolonizing development praxis, Georgia supports local communities to implement local strategies to local challenges. For WildFF, she provides program design, evaluation, and development services for projects located in East Africa.<\/p>\n

Dr. Letty Brown is a forest scientist who specializes in restoration, conservation planning, and carbon accounting. She has worked in the forests of US, Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Kenya. Letty holds a Ph.D. in Forest Science from UC Berkeley and did her post-doctoral work as a Fulbright Scholar in Brazil, where she conducted remote-sensing and ground-based research to map conservation targets for a portion of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Patrick is a graduate of Makerere University and earned a project planning and management postgraduate diploma from Uganda Management Institute, Kampala. He has 17 years of experience in agroforestry systems and forest resources management including inventory, planning and utilization, conservation and restoration, and agroforestry practices. He is passionate about agroforestry, alternative energy sources, and improving refugee situations. He serves as the local government director in Palorinya, where WildFF has been working since 2018. His experience includes District Forest Officer, Moyo District Local Government, Uganda, and Head of the Department of Forest Management at Tutor Forestry Training College South Sudan.<\/p>\n

D<\/span>r. Jason Scullion is a forest conservationist and Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at McDaniel College (Maryland, USA). Originally from the northwestern USA, Jason has had a lifelong interest in the conservation, exploration, and study of forests worldwide. He has a PhD in Environmental and Forest Sciences and master\u2019s degrees in Public Administration and Forest Resources from the University of Washington. Letty holds a Ph.D. in Forest Science from UC Berkeley and did her post-doctoral work as a Fulbright Scholar in Brazil, where she conducted remote-sensing and ground-based research to map conservation targets for a portion of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
